The Detrimental Effect of Poverty on Education - A Vicious Cycle
Poverty is one of the biggest factors that determine whether or not a child will receive a quality education. This in turn affects the amount of money they will be able to make as an adult, thus keeping them impoverished. This vicious cycle of lack of quality education due to poverty and poverty due to lack of quality education is not a local issue.
Critical Issues Impacting Education
There are many different issues impacting education today. Lack of funding can create inequity, especially in STEM education and computer science. Covid-19 has created a proven negative impact on our students, and politicization of the education system can lead to priorities other than the education and wellbeing of our students.
Equity and Diversity in CTE
A glaring issue that I see affecting my area of concentration, Career Technical Education (CTE) - Information Technology pathway, is the lack of diversity, especially in terms of gender.
